Eric Schroeck
Eric Schroeck is a Managing Director at Marathon Strategies, a public affairs and communications firm based in Manhattan with offices in Washington, D.C., and Albany. At Marathon, Eric leads the development and execution of communications strategies that help Fortune 100 corporations and major American industry associations achieve their business goals, win state and federal policy battles, and protect their public reputations. His specialties include providing strategic campaign counsel and developing messaging, thought leadership content, digital collateral, rapid response communications, and other materials that help clients influence discussions about themselves and their issues in the Beltway and in state capitols across the country.
Eric’s work at Marathon, where he has led public campaigns since 2013, often specializes in complex and often emotionally charged issues that are often subject to intense public and
regulatory scrutiny. At the same time, he also works with corporations to help them promote their positive initiatives, impacts, and issue expertise. This includes working with Walmart to amplify the company’s health and wellness offerings — from low-cost medications and vision care services to affordable fresh and healthy foods — that support the well-being of its customers and communities.
Eric has 20 years of experience in journalism, media analysis, strategic messaging, and research. Prior to joining Marathon, he focused on political and policy research at Media Matters for America, a progressive, D.C.-based media watchdog. A graduate of St. Bonaventure University, where he studied journalism, Eric began his career as a reporter and editor at local newspapers in New York and Virginia. An upstate New York native by way of Long Island, Eric lives in the Columbia County village of Kinderhook with his wife and 8-year-old son, along with their dog and cat.
