Gabriel Chirinos
Programs Resource Coordinator and Chef Educator
Hi! I’m Gabriel, a pastry chef based here in New York City. I’ve moved from the kitchen into the classroom, teaching middle school kids how to bake and cook more nutritiously. Growing up in Jackson Heights, I’ve seen how valuable living in this borough was in terms of exposure to different foods and culture, and I love how The Sylvia Center is bringing that right to the kids. I can use my professional experience to heighten their own learning experiences and make it fun, while teaching them about sustainable agriculture, and technical culinary skills! I’m so grateful for everyone to see the amazing things we work on here and how supportive, creative and caring The Sylvia Center team is. When I’m not working though, I’m usually playing with my dachshund Biscotti, baking absurd amounts of breads and pastries or listening to jazz!
